Spanish Language Newspapers feeling the Economic Pinch

The Courier-Journal tells us that the Spanish language paper Hoy in Shelbyville, Kentucky will no longer be published. The tight economic times have pushed things a bit too far, this publication was losing money it sounds like. It’s too bad, I’m afraid that many of the Spanish language papers in this country work on narrow margins. I have greatly enjoyed our local Spanish weekly, La Voz Independiente. I hope we won’t see many of these papers fold because I think the easy availability of reading material is one of the things that has helped me learn Spanish.
